The third book in the Cassidy McCabe
Mystery series lures Cassidy and Zach into the mind of a sick,
demented man. Someone
is building relationships with area women, becoming sexually
active, and then turning sadistic—tying them up, virtually
raping these insecure women and ending the session by injecting
them with a syringe of his HIV positive blood.
Imagine their fear and hopelessness as they find they are
now also HIV positive. When
these women receive letters from “Cliff” stating they should
seek Cassidy for therapy, most of the women are outraged,
positive that Cassidy is also in on his demented scheme.
Cassidy already has her hands full, her
loveable cat, Starshine, is now the proud mama to three overly
rambunctious kittens, Calvin, Hobbes and Sylvia.
Cassidy is searching for homes for each kitten, and also
fighting her own attachments to the little ones.
When Cliff’s victims begin seeking her out, with
Zach’s assistance, she must begin examining each of her past
and present male patients to identify Cliff before any other
women are hurt.
While this subject sounds dark and dreary,
do not let that scare you off.
Cassidy’s gran gets more of a role in the series now,
and the eighty-four-year-old spitfire is a hoot!
I will be happy to see more and more of her in the
future. Cassidy and
Zach are now living together.
Cassidy is unsure he truly plans to stay, so she is
extremely hesitant to let him pay the bills, but he insists.
Cassidy knows she is falling in love with him, and at the
same time, she is terrified that he will end up like her
ex-husband.
In all, VENDETTA’S VICTIM is another winner!
Cassidy’s living from paycheck to paycheck is something
that most will find easy to relate to, the humorous touches add
relief to the chilling suspense found within the pages, and
Starshine and her brood’s antics also add lightheartedness to
the story. |
