Josie
Villefranche has inherited the Hotel Josephine from her
grandmother, who has just died. Once a thriving bordello,
the hotel has fallen on hard times made especially desperate after
a female guest is murdered in her hotel bed. The murder
remains unsolved and that story was the first novel in the Dangerous
Liaisons miniseries. Now readers are
re-introduced to Josie, her hotel, and her struggle to save it.
Drew
Morrison is a business shark nicknamed “The Closer” for his
ability to close deals, regardless of cost to himself or others.
Bitter from an acrimonious divorce, he resolutely comes to
New Orleans
to convince Josie to sell the Hotel Josephine to his client.
It is, after all, the kind of work he does best.
What Drew
doesn’t count on is his intense attraction to the very beautiful
Josie and her aged hotel. While their relationship begins
with his lack of truth, this doesn’t take away one bit from the
intensity of their sexual encounters or from their feelings for
each other.
This is a
terrific category romance with lots of angst about the
relationship between Josie and Drew, some Cajun mystery, voodoo,
and unexpected outcomes. I really appreciated the authors’
letter to readers at the beginning of the book, noting their
sorrow about
New Orleans
, the setting for this book and actually, all books in the Dangerous
Liaisons series.
Fans of
Tori Carrington will be especially satisfied with this book.
As usual, with most of their books, I read this one long into the
night and loved it! This really good read is full of a great
relationship and sexual tension.
