Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina
Perkins-Martin are owners of "The Domestic Equalizers,"
a private investigation firm that is conveniently
located in the building with their beauty salon. Both of
them are astonished to learn that they have been invited
to speak at The National Association of Private
Investigators annual conference. Since it is an
all-expense paid trip to New York City, the two agree to
go.
Celina Phillips lives in Dime Box, Texas, a town that
has a population of 381. Even though she lives with her
grandmother, Celina was able to complete a degree in
library science from Blinn College. In fact, that was
her contribution to the town; she started the first
library in the local feed store.
One day, while visiting some of her favorite Internet
websites, Celina noted that the annual conference being
held in New York City for private investigators was only
two weeks away. Among the seminars offered, was one,
which explained how to start your own investigation
service. Since this was always something she wanted to
do, she told her grandmother she was going, despite her
limited monetary funds.
Inevitably, the three women meet by chance at the
conference and become friends. A rash of serial murders
has recently besieged the city. Unfortunately, a murder
takes place in the hotel room next to theirs, and, of
course, they can't pass up the opportunity to solve an
urban murder case.
Dixie Cash is the pen name for two sisters, Pam Crumbie
and Jeffery McClanahan. Their latest collaboration
yields a summer read that is reminiscent of Janet
Evanovich's Plum series complete with a "redneck" twist.
Fans of this series will enjoy this fourth installment
starring Edwina and Debbie Sue.
