They are all looking to overcome the pact before time runs out. When Firebird discovers a cruel truth, she leaves the safety of her family and goes out in search of her ex and the father of her son. What she faces is more than the wrath of her ex-boyfriend, she also has to deal with the evil part of her family who is determined that the pact with the devil shall continue, especially if it means the death of all the Wilder's.

Doug Black is the ex with a grudge as big as he is. He is a shifter with the ability to change into a cougar. He was desperately in love with Firebird and devastated when she just disappeared from his life. Now she has returned and drops a bomb that has him staggering. He has a son that he has never met. His anger at her betrayal is nothing compared to missing the first few years of his son's life. Doug wants to stay with Firebird, but when she comes back to him, he has already set in motion some plans that may cause him to loose her forever. Not only that, but Firebird brings him some news that will completely change his world. Doug may very well face death in order to save Firebird and her family.

INTO THE FLAME is the fourth and last installment in the Darkness Chosen series and by far the best! I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion to this story. Firebird totally lives up to her name and Doug is completely worthy of her love. The only drawback is that I hate to see the series end!
