Historical Romance

Charles Cabot is pleasantly surprised by the renowned King's Counsel, Sir Eustace Lawrence's invitation to his Berkshire home. It seems Cabot's well known work as an industrious landscaper and architect precedes him and he accepts the offer to modify Lawrence's estate grounds, which quickly turns into a much different duty. It seems Lawrence's daughter Margaret, also known as Meg, is being pursued by an unhinged admirer. Earl of Sutcliffe desires the lovely Meg and will stop at nothing to win her affections, including murdering those he feels are standing in his way. Due to these circumstances she has spurned any romantic attentions from men in fear for their lives but Charles is determined to protect her at any costs. Will Meg's burgeoning feelings for Charles ever have the chance to bloom when Sutcliffe threatens their very future?

Sherry Lynn Ferguson is an author who knows how to balance a pleasurable mixture of action and romance. The characters are very real, each with their own intriguing personalities and pasts. With plot twists that will keep you on your toes, you will watch as the love of Meg and Charles gets challenged in ways you couldn't ever dream of...by outside influences and themselves! The dialogue is witty and moves the plot along at a satisfying rate, especially towards the end. Although a little slow coming out of the gate, Quiet Meg is filled with vivid descriptions and a sharp sense of humor and is a book which lives up to the claim "you'll never want to put it down".
