Paranormal Romance

Up until her 30th birthday, Lizzie Brown thought she was just plain Lizzie. She worked at a preschool, was always neat and clean, and was reliable, but a bit boring. That was just how she liked it, too. Unfortunately, all that has changed. She is thrust into a nightmare. Her grandmother, whom she has never know until now, shows up on her motorcycle, just as a demon pops out of Lizzie's toilet. Her dog starts talking to her, someone is trying to kill her, and she has to miss the carefully planned birthday dinner with her friends and a man with date potential. Why her?

Well, see, she is supposed to be a hotshot, bad-ass demon slayer. Her biological family has for generations been enlisted in the war of good against evil. Now, it is her turn to save the day. Never mind that she has no idea just what is going on. She is over her head, but becomes determined to do her best, as always. On her ride out to meet her grandmother's coven, they get attacked by the bad guys and the day is saved by a sexy, sexy man. It would also seem, that is a bit of a talent, as well. He is a shifter and his other form is a big, beautiful, and deadly griffin. Well, needless to say, it all goes to Hell in a hand basket from there. She is fighting an unwanted attraction, rough & tumble women in her grandmother's coven, and baddies that appear to coming in all coming from all directions. The demands on her talent are adding up fast. She just has to master her gifts, save her Grandmother and the coven, and become accustomed to her new life. Then, maybe, she can figure out where to go from here. Another mission maybe?

Lizzie's adventures were written with a very comical viewpoint. It was distracting and made this a very hard read. I believe that the story would have had more promise had it not been so overly tongue-in-cheek. While it was not a total waste, (Lizzie has a good heart and Dimitri the Griffin is sinfully sexy), I found this to be a "just okay" read. If you like this type of romance, then be sure to give it a try.
