Hannah Bryson is a marine architect who
has been given a great opportunity, to clear a Russian
nuclear submarine called the Silent Thunder for hazards
so it can become a museum exhibit. Her brother, Connor,
is along to help her out as her assistant. When Connor
discovers a mysterious message behind some wall panels,
things become tricky. There is an explosion that leaves
Connor dead, and Hannah determined to find out what was
there that was worth killing her brother over.
SILENT THUNDER is a brisk, well written book. Hannah and
her sister-in-law Cathy are determined to find out what
was so important about this seemingly quick job that
left Connor dead. In order to do so, Hannah pairs up
with someone who may be an enemy, Kirov. He is not who
he says he is, but he can lead her to the man who killed
her brother. Hannah is a woman who has always trusted
history and machines more than men, so to put her trust
in someone who is not her brother is a big move for her.
It is interesting to watch her evolve in her
relationship with Kirov, and he with her. Earning each
other's respect would take time, that they do not have,
so it is traded in for dangerous situations that almost
leave them dead.
SILENT THUNDER will leave you in shock, gasping for
breath as you fear Hannah and Kirov are running out of
time, and then contemplating the consequences of the
ending long after you close the book. An excellent read
for those who like to feel like they are getting a
history lesson with their suspense.
