Sheridan Kohl can't seem to forget being shot as a teenager or the fact that Jason Wyatt the boy who was parked with her at the lake in Whiterock, Tennessee was killed that night. A stranger shot them, and was never caught. Sheridan has never been able to truly get over the guilt of surviving nor of not being able to give the police more information on the shooter. Sheridan's family moved away believing that would help her heal. Nothing really helped, and now Sheridan has returned to Whiterock because a new development in the case may finally lead to the answers she's always needed.

Sheridan's arrival is not met by all with joy, in fact Cain Granger, Jason's stepbrother, only learns of Sheridan's arrival when he finds her nearly beaten to death in his woods. Cain is determined to keep Sheridan safe however, Cain and Sheridan's past is not that easy to overcome nor forget. Nor is the fact that if not for Sheridan, Jason wouldn't have been in that parked car.

Now Cain and Sheridan must face their past and try to find out who the killer is before it's too late. But, things keep occurring that point at people both Cain and Sheridan know, will they find the answers harder to take than not knowing? Is the killer just playing with them?

WATCH ME is book three in Ms. Novak's THE LAST STAND SERIES, following TRUST ME, and STOP ME. While reading all three books in order will likely help readers understand each woman, reading each book as a stand alone is fine as well. WATCH ME, in my opinion is the best of the three books. With WATCH ME we are given a series of trails to follow along with the characters and are left guessing the killer's identity or like me waffling between two or three different choices. Ms. Novak has proven with this series that tackling hard issues does not mean romance can't be sparked. WATCH ME is a very intense read, from all sides because we are taken into the killers mind. The characters within WATCH ME will have readers eager for more from the LAST STAND men and women.. This is a series that is sure to leave readers tingling on the edge of their seats and eagerly awaiting the next suspense filled story.
