But since she has no special skills it is extremely difficult. Hence, Cassandra believes that it is a stroke of luck when she runs into Mrs. Jameston, a wealthy woman who asks her to be her companion. The money that she makes will provide for her sister and mother to a certain extent and Mrs. Jameston is extremely sweet and nice. This was the perfect job!

Mark Langford, an insurance investigator, has come to know that Sebastian Jameston, a fraud and a murderer, is at his mother's residence. Having a personal vendetta against him and wanting justice he befriends the lovely Cassandra and asks her to pretend as if they are courting since this would give him the opportunity to be at the Jameston residence without any suspicion. But soon things get out of hand. Jameston starts to suspect his motives and actions, and Cassandra starts to mean more to him. Will Mark realize his true feelings before it is too late?

The final installment of the Ladies of Liberty series ends with a bang as Ms. Peterson does a wonderful job writing Mark and Cassandra's story. Filled with twists and turns and intrigue, this story is sure to please. I especially enjoyed Cassandra and her sister Elida. Still a child, Elida is a precocious and overdramatic girl, who added comedy and laughter to the novel. Cassandra is a poised young woman; however, she is also stubborn and strong-willed, something that she is not afraid to show. With such a versatile and colorful cast, this novel will touch many lives. And the best part is the fact that even though this is book is part of a series, you will not have to read the other two to enjoy this one!
